Management of Sustainability

Sustainable fiber manufacturing by the “Three Steps”.

Production of Soalon began in 1967.We have been providing high quality yarn and clothing for more than 50 years,
but will build a sustainable supply chain by following the “Three Steps”,
so that we can continue making fibers with no further impact on the changing global environment.

Raw Materials

The main raw material of Soalon is derived from natural trees. FSC® forest certification is a certification given to products made from wood obtained from properly managed forests for sustainability and their manufacturing and distribution processes, based on standards set by the Forest Stewardship Council, a global NGO.Mitsubishi Chemical is also a supplier procuring raw materials, and in 2017 we acquired FSC Chain of Custody Certification for our filament production at Toyama Plant, our Soalon manufacturing plant. In addition, we have received the Biomass Mark certification, which is a mark of environmental products that utilize biological resources (biomass).
※FSC-COC certification has expanded the scope of certification to include core weaver and core dyeing factory within the textile manufacturing supply chain.

This is a certification system that guarantees to consumers sourcing from responsibly managed forests, based on standards set by the Forest Stewardship Council®, a global NGO.

Biomass Mark

It is a mark for environmental products that use biomass and that have been certified by the Japan Organics Recycling Association as compliant with quality, related laws and regulations, standards, etc.

We have built a partnership with Canopy, an international forest protection NGO, and are working together to preserve forests.

Yarn Production

bluesign® is a system of certifying the fiber products of a supply chain that is sustainable in terms of resources, people and the environment. Not only reducing our environmental burden but also ensuring the safety of the people who work for us and who wear our products will be crucial in the coming era.For example, at Toyama Plant we use organic solvents in the Soalon manufacturing process, but we carry out appropriate treatment and thorough recovery and reuse.Through strict control from the perspective of the environment, labor and consumers, we have been recognized as a bluesign partner company engaging with the ideas of bluesign.

ISO9001 ・ ISO14001

Our manufacturing plant has been given ISO9001 and ISO14001 quality management system standard certification.

bluesign® system partner

This is a scheme built by the international environmental certification organization bluesign® technologies ag in Switzerland, the origin of bluesign, in which all companies in the textile manufacturing supply chain cooperate to reduce their environmental burden from the perspective of the environment, labor and consumers, and improve people’s physical safety.

Product Safety

Through strict analytic testing, we have also acquired Oeko-Tex® Standard 100, which certifies that our products do not include harmful chemical substances. This increases the safety of Soalon and provides security to the wearer.Soalon is also combined with other fibers such as polyester to create its excellent function and rich appearance. We can make even more sustainable clothing using materials such as ECORNA polyester made from recycled PET bottles. We have already used it for sportswear and uniforms, but since 2019 we have been suggesting it for womenswear too.

The quality of yarn and dyed textile products is controlled to eliminate the effects and damage caused by harmful substances to the human body. By dyeing and processing the fabric at a STeP certified factory※, we can meet users' MADE IN GREEN ※requirements.

※Soalon Textile‘s main dye factory has obtained STeP certification( ), and the processed textiles have also obtained STANDARD 100 certification.

※MADE IN GREEN indicates that the product is made in a sustainable factory (STeP certification) that is considerate of the environment and workers, and has been confirmed to have world-class safety (Standard 100 certification). By reading the QR code on the assigned label, it is possible to confirm and prove traceability of all bases involved in manufacturing, from materials to sewing and processing.
